| June 4, 2010 NORTH VANCOUVER — As British Columbia leads the country in economic growth, residents in the City and District of North Vancouver may want to take advantage of BizPaL, an online permit and license service that helps entrepreneurs start up faster. “Our government is committed to getting the economy moving,” says North Vancouver MP Andrew Saxton. “And the economic engine in British Columbia is small business.” “BizPaL is a simple one-stop shop for everything you need to get your business moving,” says North Vancouver-Seymour MLA Jane Thornthwaite. “Thanks to the great relationship we share with all levels of government, we can let the world know that British Columbia is open for business.” “As a former business owner, I understand that although starting a business is exciting, the permit and license process can be lengthy,” says North Vancouver-Lonsdale MLA Naomi Yamamoto. “BizPaL makes a complex process quick and easy.” Entrepreneurs can use BizPaL to receive a personalized list of the permits and licenses needed to establish and run their business. This unique partnership between federal, provincial, territorial, regional and local governments is designed to cut through the paperwork burden small businesses face. “The City has been offering BizPaL on its website for almost two years,” says City of North Vancouver Mayor Darrell Mussato. “BizPaL’s online service streamlines the process for starting a successful business in the City.” “We are pleased to offer BizPaL to local business owners,” says North Vancouver District Mayor Richard Walton. “It is an excellent resource for entrepreneurs and helps to ensure that they have all of the required paperwork in place to start up their business. “ The BizPaL service in the District and City of North Vancouver was developed with the support of Industry Canada, in collaboration with the District and City of North Vancouver] and the Province of British Columbia.
